Annual tennis & mulled wine
Saturday 19th December

Every year on the Saturday before Christmas we run a tennis and mulled wine event. This year this event takes place on Saturday 19th December on the courts and in the clubhouse.

Tennis will take place from 1:30pm, followed by mulled wine and refreshments at 4pm. Please note that regardless of the weather, mulled wine in the clubhouse from 4pm will still take place. Cost of the event is 1.50 to cover costs.

We hope to see as many of there as possible, to join us in getting into the festive spirit.
Woodbank dinner

Cults Tennis will be hosting their annual festive night out at Woodbank on Wednesday 9th December this year. If you have never been before, it's a great night out. All members are welcome.

Date: Wednesday 9th Decmber
Time: 7:30pm for 8:00pm
Cost: 26 per person

The cost includes a festival cocktail on arrival, a 2 course meal followed by tea or coffee, and mince pies! Please note the 26 also covers a tip for the staff on the night.

Fireworks night - Sunday 8th November

Cults Tennis Club have for the past 5 years have lit up the night sky with our very own Fireworks display....and for a sixth consecutive year we aim to do the same. This year we will be hosting out annual fireworks night on Sunday 8th November at 5:45pm with fireworks being set off at 6:30pm.

All friends and family are welcome along to our very own firework bonanza, there are no tickets required! It all starts from 5:45pm where people will have the opportunity to buy hot dogs, glow sticks and tuck shop on the night too!!

Our very own fireworks night has proved very popular in the past with in excess of 300 people attending each year. This is continuing to grow so make sure you don't miss out and bring along some family and friends with you.
Quiz night - Friday 9th October

Cults Tennis Club will be hosting their annual Quiz night on Friday 9th October in our very own clubhouse. This has proved a popular event over the last two years and we are hoping to fill the clubhouse again to give you the chance to pit your wits against fellow members (non members welcome too!).

Tickets cost 5 per person and this includes some pizza half way through the quiz. This is being run as a BYOB event. We will also be running a raffle and some games to raise money for club funds. Maximum 5 people per team and you can either sign up as a team or we can assign you a team on the night.

Club champs finals day

As noted elsewhere on this page, the club championships are now in full swing with players fighting for the chance to compete for a trophy on the club's 2015 finals day. Finals day this year takes place on Saturday 12th September and a full schedule of matches will be available on here nearer the date (junior matches will be in the morning with senior finals starting from 1pm).

As an alternative to the presentation dinner this year, we will be hosting a BBQ event from 1pm throughout the afternoon. The cost will be 6 per adult and 3 per child. This includes all food and drink and there will be no extra cost. Please e-mail Dan Packham at to let us know if you are coming so we know how many to cater for. We are also looking for a couple volunteers to assist with the BBQ so please let us know if you are willing to help!!
Cults Tennis Club Championships

The Club Championships this year will run from Monday 10th August - Saturday 12th September. As in previous years, everyone entering must be available to play on finals day (12th September).

The format is the same as previous years, however if you've not entered before please be sure to read the entry form below carefully and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact either Gareth ( or  Andrew (

This is a free tournament to all Club members, and intended to be a very social event - the coaches and Club committee would like to encourage everyone to enter and get involved!

Interested in becoming a member at Cults Tennis Club? As we are now over half way through 2015, there is no better time to join! As of the 1st June, all memberships are entitled to a 30% discount off their fees. Furthermore if you join after the 1st of August, you will get a fantastic 50% off!! This applies to all membership categories at the club and for new members only.

Sunday 28th June - Junior Event & BBQ

The return of the Bouncy Castle, Bungee Run and of course Sponge Bob (why not? Go on you know you want to!), Beat the goalie, Cricket and Tennis fun stations; and after all that fun the BBQ will be ready - what's not to like! 

Cost £6.00 / Time 2pm to 5pm

Yes folks, it's that time of year again - time to get all the juniors together for a fun day at the Club. Especially for Junior Members and their siblings to enjoy after some impressive tennis this season and before the start of the Summer(?) holidays! Come along and join in, it should be a great afternoon and we will do our best to arrange for some good weather!

You can pay on the day or give the money in advance to Elaine, the coaches, Brian Adam or even send to the Club address (please put in an envelope with your name on it!). We would also be grateful to any bakers out there who feel they could rustle up a few cakes to help us out and if any parents are willing to stay and help out during the afternoon it would be much appreciated. Please let Elaine or Andrew know if you are able to stay and help out. Furthermore we are also looking for one more BBQ helper too!! 
Saturday 20th June - Midsummer night tournament

Players of ALL levels are welcome to come down to the Midsummer Night Handicap Tournament on Saturday 20th June at 7pm and join in the fun.

We will run the Handicap Tournament and fire up the BBQ mid to late evening.  Please feel free to BYOB -  the more the merrier - people who join us that is.The cost of the event will be 
£5.00 per person.

Please e-mail by latest Thursday 18th June so we know what numbers we are catering for. In the case of the weather interfering with proceedings we will go ahead as planned and have an impromptu quiz - still a competition of sorts, although not sure about Handicapping!

Cults Tennis Club are hosting a charity day on Saturday 30th May in aid of the CLAN charity. We have a range of activities throughout the day to raise money for a great cause while having fun. Highlights include a marathon doubles match lasting 12 hours where you can sign up to play for an hour slot, coffee afternoon & cake, and bid for a buddy challenge! Make sure you get involved and support this great cause...

Club DIY SoS style

Cults Tennis Club will be holding a DIY SoS style weekend on Friday 3rd, Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th of April. To launch the start of the season we are looking for volunteers to come down and help out with some Club house painting, bit of gardening or whatever additional skills you have to offer!!

The weekend will be split into sessions of mornings and afternoons and Brian Adam is the handy man running the show!

If you think you can help out please e-mail Brian Adam at the more the merrier!! All help would be greatly appreciated to get our clubhouse ready for the year ahead!!
17th March: Individual coaching team 2015

Ever thought about getting some individual lessons at Cults Tennis Club? There is no better time to get some lessons ahead of the new season.

Individual coaching is available for all levels of player from beginners to advanced. Your coach will work with you to determine wqhether your focus should be technical, tactical or physical and develop your lessons as you progress to meet your needs.

14th March: Senior teams match practice

Match practice is back underway ahead of the new season, so it's time to get the racket out from the back of the cupboard and get ready for the 2015 season.

Match practice for the men runs on Tuesdays with ladies on the Wednesday. Both match practices began last week and conitnue this week (17th & 18th March). The session is from 7pm to 8pm and players are welcome to stay after 8pm for more matchplay.

May we remind all those wanting to come along that you must have a Club membership to play for the teams. Therefore please renew ASAP so you have a current membership before playing in the teams.
5th March: Junior night returns in 2015!

Junior night is all set to return to Cults Tennis Club on Thursday 2nd April. All times will be the same as last year with Mini's running from 5:30pm to 6:15pm, Primary school from 6:00pm to 7:30pm and Secondary school from 7:30pm to 9:00pm.

However this year there will be a new structure for the Teen Junior Night running from 7:30pm  This will include a 'Hot Shot ladder', match practice, team tennis, fun games and of course the old favourites like tuck shop and the ball machine will remain.

17th February: Junior movie night Friday 6th March

Now that the new projector has been installed it's time for another Junior movie night. These have been well attended over the past couple of years and now it is time to host our very own movie night with the unveiling of our very own projector.

The movie night takes place on
Friday 6th March 6:45pm (doors at 6:30pm for tuck shop!) and the movie we will be showing is Despicable Me 2. The cost per person is 2.50 and members can bring along one non-member each.

Please note this film is classed as a U and all funds will benefit the junior account.

15th February: Club membership renewal

It is now a little under 2 weeks before the official start of the 2015 season at Cults Tennis Club. This of course means membership fees are now due, before the renewal date of 1st March. The updated fees for 2015, as passed at the AGM last November, are as follows:

This year we are offering two new forms of membership, lifetime and associate. The associate membership is for those not wanting to play tennis but would like to attend the social events we host throughout the year (2015 social calendar will be on the website in the next few days). The liftime members is as the name suggests - a full individual membership to the Club for life! However there is a limit to the number of these memberships available so please contact Dan Packham via the Contact Us page if you would like to consider this option.

If your contact details have changed from last year please let Dan know by e-mail. Furthermore if you do not wish to renew your membership please also let Dan know so we stop chasing you for your membership fees!

So don't delay and don't miss the renewal date of the 1st March ahead of the new season!
10th February: Cults Tennis survey

Ahead of the new 2015 season, we have created a survey for members to give their feedback on how the club is run. We would be grateful if all members could spare 10-15 mins to complete survey which looks at different sections such as membership, junior coaching, senior coaching, social & social media. The survey will close on Sunday 1st March so please ensure you complete the survey by then. All responses will remain anonymous so we would appreciate honest feedback. Please fill in all the questions (there are N/A options for sections that do not apply to you) and click on the link below to access the survey.

27th January: New committee announced for 2015

The Cults Tennis Club committee has had a little reshuffle ahead of the new 2015 season just around the corner. Leaving the committee from 2014 is Liam Alexander and we thank him for all his hard work on the committee over the past couple of seasons.

Joining the committee for 2015 are Anna Porter as Publicity convenor, Michael Howie as Men's team representative, Ben Soutar as Junior representative and Lisa Fretwell as Ordinary member. We welcome all new members onto the committee and appreciate the time they are giving up for the club.

We also thank everyone who has remained on the committee from 2014. We hope to have another successful season both on and off the court. For a full list of committee members go to the Committtee page on the menu on the left hand side or click here!

10th January: Term time coaching begins 12th January

Time to get the racket out of the cupboard, blow the cobwebs off it, and get set for coaching. Junior term time coaching starts all over again on Monday 12th January, with coaching similar to previous blocks. This includes coaching on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday and performance coaching happening on Wednesday, Friday & Saturday. All the forms you need are below, and more information can be found by clicking on the coaching forms.

Monday coaching (12th Jan to 30th Mar excluding 16th Feb)

 Session A: 3:45pm to 4:30pm (5 to 8 year olds)
 Session B: 4:30pm to 5:15pm (7 to 10 year olds)
 Session C: 4:00pm to 5:00pm (9 to 11 year olds)
 Session D: 5:15pm to 6:15pm (Orange Squad invite only)
 Session E: 5:15pm to 6:15pm (12 to 17 year olds)
 Session F: 6:15pm to 7:15pm (Teenagers)
